Rock and Popular Music in Ireland: Before and After U2
The origins of this book lie in a theoretical article on the topic published in 2000 and the idea germinated and gestated for over ten years as the authors, individually and collectively, gathered the material for a comprehensive study. This involved many painstaking hours of library research, personal interviews with musicians, managers, music critics and other personnel and an exhaustive trawl through sound archives and back catalogues for long lost or forgotten music. The underpinning critical argument was developed and fine-tuned over this long period as the data was collected and music became available through newly digitised sources. The result is a study of great historical scope and critical depth.
