Interaction patches for multi-character animation
<26>Creating animation with a large number of characters densely interacting with each other is a complex and computationally intensive problem. This paper proposed the first real-time, automatic solution using a data-driven approach. This project was supported by RIKEN Japan, MEXT Japan and Hong Kong Research Council (Ref: CityU1149/05). The research was an international collaboration involving the UK and Japan (Waseda University and National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science & Technology). This work led to Initial Technology Transfer Grant from the University of Edinburgh (Ref: 7P-2414), a patent application (PCT/EP2009/065343) and a plug-in for commercial Autodesk Maya software.
